Someone in Cork has splashed an absolutely obscene amount of money on this watch

Jaw-dropping stuff

Is the recession over now?

“Time is money” is the old saying and in this case, it’s absolutely spot on.

An Irish guy went shopping for a watch in Cork this week and ended up finding one that he felt was worth splashing some cash on.

According to the Irish Examiner, the man paid a staggering €349,000 for a watch at Keane’s Jewellers.

Jaw drop

“The Celestial” or the Patek Philippe Grand Complication Celestial watch to give it its full name is the piece the man bought.

It’s made from solid 18ct white gold, 5.5ct of diamonds, an alligator strap and more fancy items. The watches are very rare with only ten of them being made this year, hence the outrageous price.

We wonder if he’ll debut it in Havanas Browns or Voodoo Rooms this weekend, unlikely.

By the way, if you’d like to hear a man with a very boring voice explain in detail what makes the watch so special, watch this video.

Hat-tip to Irish Examiner.
