Worth a read.
From our years of watching WWE, we assumed that there are two golden rules when it comes to being a commentator. Be as sensationalist as possible and throw in a few “OH MY GOODNESS” for good measure.
It seems that everything we thought about wrestling commentary (which is very little) has been completely wrong though, especially if these notes from WWE owner Vince McMahon are proven to be legitimate.
The nine page document outlines the things that commentators should say and what they should avoid which, for the most part, is common sense.
But there are some amusing inclusions in the instructions. For example, Wrestlemania shouldn’t be refereed to as “the granddaddy of them all” because it makes the event feel old. Wrestlers are also to be refereed to as ‘superstars’ rather than ‘pro-wrestlers’.
More to it than you thought eh?
