Paul Dunne has got the whole country behind him.
Hot on the heels of the summer sporting successes of Conor McGregor and Katie Taylor, amateur golfer Paul Dunne has the chance to make history today by being the first amateur to win The Open Championship since 1930.
The Wicklow man is at the head of the pack going into the final round, tied with former-winner Louis Oosthuizen and Jason Day at -12. Pádraig Harrington is not too far behind at -10.
Dunne will begin his last eighteen of the Open a 2.30pm today, teeing off twenty minutes after Harrington.
Needless to say, the whole country has taken to Twitter to express their support for the talented 22-year old from Greystones, Co. Wicklow as he goes for the Claret Jug.
Brian O’Driscoll, Bressie and even Joey Barton have gotten behind the man.
Excited for tomorrow. The whole country is with you!!! https://t.co/z8IFZhrh8X

Imagine lying in bed thinking, "I can be first amateur to win The Open since Bobby Jones in 1930?" How would you sleep? Would you sleep?
