PICS: This memorabilia from when Mayo last won an All-Ireland deserves a place in the GAA Museum

Alan Loughnane

A nice piece of history…

Mayo didn’t break their curse yesterday when they drew an enthralling All-Ireland Final with Dublin after a fast and furious closing period.

It’s well documented that Mayo last won an All-Ireland way back in 1951… 65 years ago, not that anyone has been counting.

Paul McCormack recently posted a photo of an item from that famous day which we think deserves a spot in the GAA Museum.

His late father Frank McCormack was at the after game reception and dinner of the Mayo team at the International Hotel in Bray following their win back in 1951.

On the day he managed to get the whole team to sign the menu from the day and it’s a lovely piece of history.

Plus, it looked like an alright meal as well…
