There’s a lot of love for TXFM on their last day of broadcast

Tony Cuddihy

“A sad day for the parish indeed.”

TXFM goes off the air on Wednesday, with many people paying tribute to the alternative music station, which took over the airwaves from Phantom FM just two years ago.

“The closure of TXFM is a devastating blow to the domestic music industry,” Dave Reid, founder of the Choice Music Prize, told the Irish Independent.

“The support and passion displayed by DJ’s & personnel station wide for Irish music was second to none.”

There was a very special moment on Tuesday when broadcaster Claire Beck’s favourite artist, John Grant, surprised her on her penultimate day.

The love for the Dublin-based station is palpable.
