WATCH: Electrician’s apprentice falls for classic bag of cement prank on Dublin building site

Conor Heneghan

He won’t be the first and he won’t be the last.

The first few days as an apprentice working alongside experienced tradesmen and labourers can be intimidating for anyone.

Let your guard down for one second and chances are you’ll fall victim to any number of classic pranks that have existed for generations.

An apprentice that won’t be named was helping his boss, electrician Mark Brady, re-wire a house in Phibsborough in Dublin on Monday morning when Mark challenged him to see if he could beat his personal best for the number of reps when lifting a bag of cement over his head.

Obviously keen to impress, the apprentice got stuck into the task, only to instantly regret it when Mark took a Stanley knife to the bag of cement mid-lift.

If that wasn’t bad enough, Mark tells us that the apprentice in question has had quite the initiation, having gone looking for sparks for the grinder and willingly gone in search of a long stand.

Lesson learned, son. Lesson learned.

Cheers to Mark Brady for sending this our way.
