WATCH: Denzel Washington has a great story about running for sneaky pints of Guinness while his plane refuelled at Shannon Airport

Eoghan Doherty

A true legend…

Here at JOE, we count ourselves very fortunate to be able to have the opportunity to sit down and talk to incredibly interesting and talented people; everyday heroes, actors, musicians, sports stars – these are people who come from all walks of life, from all over the world.

Every now and then though, along comes a person who is so iconic, so distinguished and so disarmingly charming, that everyone knows their name, everyone stops to stare and everyone basically wants to go for a pint with them in the infinitesimal hope they become your best friend for ever and ever and ever.

Denzel Washington is one of those people.

The Hollywood legend, who currently stars in and directs the excellent Oscar-nominated Fences (released in Irish cinemas on 17 February), kindly took the time to sit down with us to chat about his first ever paying job as a young actor, his upcoming film with Colin Farrell and he regaled us with a cracking story of running for sneaky pints of Guinness in Shannon Airport.

What a man.

Enjoy…

Here’s the main man doing what he does best, putting in a powerhouse performance in his latest cinematic offering, Fences
