This could have gone much worse.
Irish Rail sent a tweet out to their followers explaining that there would be a delay on one of their lines after a cyclist caused damage to part of the Coolmine Level Crossing.
Update: Up to 30 minute delays to Maynooth line services due to damage to Coolmine Level Crossing caused by a cyclist.

That, we suppose, might have been the end of it.
Except that they then posted footage of the what had actually happened, and even those who get caught up in the delays might get a little joy out of watching it.
A cyclist clearly tries to make it across the crossing as the barriers are coming down, and while he makes it under the first one, he doesn’t quite make it under the second one…

The lesson here folks is that the barriers are there for a very obvious reason (safety!), and that you shouldn’t try to get around them when they’re down, not only because you might get a smack of a train, but you also might get caught on camera completely conking yourself out and the entire thing ends up on the internet for everyone to see.
Something to think about.
