“If you’re grabbing her and she doesn’t want it, you’re in the wrong.”

In an interview conducted by Hot Press just days before allegations of inappropriate behaviour were levelled against him, Al Porter condemned groping.

Porter spoke about a wide range of issues in the interview, including groping, sex scandals and trial by media.

On the issue of groping someone without their consent, Porter said, “I don’t care how provocatively a woman dresses, or how late at night she arranged to have a business meeting with you. Or whether it was in your hotel room or not. If you’re grabbing her and she doesn’t want it, you’re in the wrong.”

The interview was conducted by Hot Press contributing editor Olaf Tyaransen on Tuesday, November, 14.

On Sunday, November 19, Porter resigned from his slot on Today FM after a series of allegations of inappropriate behaviour were made against him on social media and in the Irish edition of The Times.

On Monday, November 20, Porter stepped away from his role in the Christmas panto in the Olympia Theatre.

In a statement issued earlier this week, St Patrick’s Mental Health Services confirmed that they were investigating a complaint made against Porter regarding a visit Porter paid to a patient in the hospital.

You can read part of the interview on the Hot Press website here or you can read the full interview in the new Hot Press in stores from Friday, November 24.
