Here’s a selection of the best films on the box tonight

Kate Demolder

It’s going to be even harder to pull yourself away from the couch tonight.

The last week of work before Christmas has us all knackered, and the unusually mild weather has us all confused – so what better way to relax your brain than with an evening of great telly.

Tonight sees a whole host of brilliant films on the box, with plenty to choose from in terms of variety.

First up, we’ve got Terminator 2: Judgement Day – 3e (Sky channel 103) @ 9pm

The film follows Sarah Connor and her ten-year-old son John as they are pursued by a new, more advanced Terminator, the liquid metal, shapeshifting T-1000 – sent back in time to kill John Connor and prevent him from becoming the leader of the human resistance.

A paragon of deadly nineties movies.

Second up is The Night Before – RTÉ 2 (Sky channel 102) @ 9:30pm

On Christmas eve, three lifelong friends spend the night in New York City looking for the Holy Grail of Christmas parties. This golden Christmas film stars Joseph Gordon Levitt, Seth Rogan and Anthony Mackie at their best.

Think Christmas jumpers, celebrity cameos and gags bold enough to make you spit out your tea laughing.

Third up is the incomparable Step Brothers – Comedy Central (Sky Channel 112) @ 9pm, or Comedy Central +1 (127) @ 10pm

Arguably the most quotable films of all time, Stepbrothers is the story of two 40-something-year-old brothers who are forced to come together when their single parents marry.

This film showcases Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly at their best, including a rendition of Por Ti Volare that’s yet to be forgotten.

Next up is Coyote Ugly – Universal (Sky Channel 113) @ 9pm

In hopes of becoming a famous songwriter, shy, innocent Violet Sanford moves to New York City to fulfil her lifelong dream. When she gets there, she finds herself desperate and broke. However, through a bizarre twist of fate, Violet ends up bagging herself job as one of the barmaids at the hottest nightclub in town, Coyote Ugly.

And the rest, is history.

And finally, Bring It On: All Or Nothing – MTV (Sky Channel 126) @ 10pm

Transfer student Britney Allen goes from prom queen to new kid as she moves across town to a rough high school. She tries joining the cheer-leading squad and she not only faces off against the head cheerleader, but against her former school in preparation for a cheer-off competition.

This film features Hayden Panettiere in her prime facing up head-to-head to the elusive Solange Knowles.

This iconic film boasts the best of the noughties, including a cameo from none other than a fresh faced Rihanna. What’s not to like?

Now all you have to do is choose…
