We’re not exactly sure what to make of this…
Driscoll’s, a California-based berry farm, has combined blueberries and raspberries to invent a kind of berry hybrid that they have creatively titled “Braspberries.”
The braspberry is not so much a result of new-age gene-splicing as it is quite literally a handpicked blueberry handstuffed inside a handpicked raspberry… It does seem like a pretty legit idea. They’re both good flavours and logistically it does seem sound to house a blueberry within a raspberry.
Launching the product on Instagram, the company write: “New berry launch! Fresh from the farm, #Braspberries are an out of this world flavor combination! @justintimberlake, be on the lookout in a grocery store near you.”

The reason the company name-checked one Justin Timberlake is because the ‘Rock Your Body’ singer actually played a part in bringing the new berry to fruition.
“Is it a coincidence that the blueberry fits perfectly in the raspberry?” the former N*Sync frontman asks. “I think not.”

We couldn’t agree more Justin. We’re hopeful that Driscoll’s braspberries will hit Irish shores sooner rather than later.
