Status yellow rain wind warnings

Fierce changeable out there…

Despite enjoying something of a heatwave this week, a status yellow rainfall has been issued for all of Ireland.

Met Éireann issued the warning on Thursday afternoon, with high intensity rainfall amounts expected in scattered thunderstorms, leading to spot flooding.

As much as 50mm of rainfall is possible in a short time.

The warning is in effect from Friday 1 June at midday until Friday night at 10pm.

As for Thursday, the forecast is mostly warm and humid.

Many areas nationwide will stay dry, with bright or sunny intervals. Cloudy periods are expected, too, with scattered showers.

Some of those showers will be heavy, especially in the north and northwest early on Thursday afternoon, and in western areas as the day goes on.

Top temperatures are expected to reach between 18 to 24 degrees celsius.
