The Rock. The Stath. From the director of Deadpool 2. We are SO here for this.

Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham have both have a pretty monstrous 2018 – one of them fought a big gorilla, and the other fought a big shark – but it looks like their 2019 is going to be even bigger.

While the Fast & Furious franchise is still going strong (the ninth entry in that series is expected to land in cinemas in April 2020), before then we’ll be getting the series’ first official spin-off, with Hobbs And Shaw just celebrating its first day of production.

While The Rock is not on set just yet, he did post an image of Statham and the movie’s director David Leitch (John Wick, Atomic Blonde) looking pretty cool, beside a very expensive automobile (which, we’re guessing, is seconds away from exploding).

As per the post, this is what The Rock had to say:

“DAY 1 and the evolution has officially begun. Long awaited Fast & Furious spin-off movie, #HobbsAndShaw is electric. My partner in heavy crime & fun @jasonstatham is lookin’ like $1million bucks and holdin’ it all down.

“Our visionary & bad ass director @davidmleitch (just directed Deadpool2) at the helm and ready to evolve the franchise in exciting and fresh new ways.

“And as always, our @sevenbucksprod president @hhgarcia41 capturing the dopest images thru his lens. Keep crushing on that set boys… the man known as “HOBBS” will touch down in London in two weeks. Pancakes, tequila and ass kickin’s on me.”

The Rock and The Stath will be joined by Idris Elba as the movie’s bad guy, as well as Vanessa Kirby (recently seen in Mission: Impossible – Fallout).

Hobbs And Shaw will be released in Irish cinemas on 2 August 2018.
