Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow rainfall warning for Donegal, Mayo and Sligo.

The warning was issued at 11:00 on 7 October and it’s in effect until Monday 08 October at 18:00

It states that: “A slow moving band of rain is expected to bring heavy and persistent rain over the period with rainfall amounts of 25-50mm expected. There is potential for higher amounts in mountainous regions. Spot flooding possible. Further rainfall is expected to follow on Monday night and Tuesday.”

As for Sunday’s conditions, it’s expected to be cloudy with outbreaks of rain and drizzle in the northwest and the west.  Things look better for the rest of the country though with spells of dry weather persistent throughout – apart from the odd patch of drizzle.

Regarding this evening, it’s expected to be blustery with rain across much of Ulster and Connacht – persistent and heavy falls particularly across coastal areas. Mostly dry elsewhere apart from the odd patch of drizzle.

When it comes to Monday and the conditions that are expected in Connacht/west Ulster, they’ve stated that there will be “some heavy and persistent rain here and spot flooding is possible.”

Aside from this warning, there are two Status Yellow marine warnings in place too.

The first one refers to a Status Yellow gale warning and Met Éireann have advised that “southwest winds will reach gale force 8 today on coasts from Slyne Head to Rossan Point to Fair Head.”

Elsewhere, there’s a Status Yellow small craft warning and it states that: “southwest winds will increase to force 6 or 7 on coasts from Fair Head to Carnsore Point to Slyne Head.”
