The man has been released without charge.
An Garda Síochána confirmed today (8 January) that a man was arrested last week in connection with an alleged sexual assault that took place in Dublin 4 in December 2018.
The man was arrested on 3 January.
According to a statement released by the Gardaí: “A man in his 30s in the Dublin area in connection with the investigation. He was brought to Irishtown Garda Station where he was detained under the provisions of Section 4 of The Criminal Justice Act 1984.”
The male was later released without charge on the evening of 4 January and a file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
The incident, which took place on 9 December, is believed to have occurred in the vicinity of Shelbourne Road, Ballsbridge, Merrion Road, Serpentine Avenue areas of Dublin 4 between midnight and 2am. Gardaí have appealed for any witnesses or drivers in that area who may have dashcam footage to come forward.
