The Bank Holiday dream is dead.
What do we do now?
Watching a movie or two might ease the pain.
We’re all feeling a bit delicate today, so let’s jump to it – here are your most acceptable film options on the box on this Tuesday, 4 June…
Super 8 – Film 4 – 6.45pm
J.J. Abrams and the great big coming of age alien adventure.
Home Alone 2: Lost in New York – E4 – 8pm
Because nothing says ‘the start of June’ like Home Alone 2.
X-Men: Apocalypse – Film 4 – 9pm
In retrospect, hiring the exceptional Oscar Isaac and burying him in a mound of Power Rangers make-up and giving him nothing to do but spout really dumb dialogue might not have been the best move that the X-Men franchise pulled off.
Timecop – SyFy – 9pm
Van Damme sports an insane mullet, does the splits on a kitchen worktop and generally falls afoul of wild sci-fi shenanigans in this so-’90s-it-hurts time travel romp.
Conspiracy Theory – TCM – 9pm
Decent enough, er, conspiracy thriller.
The Happening – SyFy – 11pm
Mark Wahlberg takes on nature itself with hilarious results.
Filth – Film 4 – 11.45pm
James McAvoy is a foul-mouthed and quite villainous policeman in an Irvine Welsh adaptation that boasts a hidden heart beneath an extremely murky surface.
Demolition Man – ITV4 – 12am
Stallone. Snipes. Bullock. A bizarre vision of the future.
Midnight movies don’t get much better.
