How he thought he’d get away with this, we’ll never know.

A 65-year-old man was arrested in Barcelona Airport last month for attempting to conceal approximately half a kilogram of cocaine (503 grams) in an ill-fitting toupee.

Spanish Police released images of the offender on Twitter on Tuesday morning, images which illustrated the folly of the attempted smuggling and why the hairpiece just might have attracted the attention of the authorities.

According to Lavanguardia, the Colombian native arrived at Barcelona Airport on a flight from Bogota on 18 June and it wasn’t just the wig he was wearing that marked him out as someone worthy of suspicion.

Rather, agents working at the airport on the day were more taken aback with how nervous he appeared to be and with good reason, as they subsequently discovered approximately €30,000 worth of cocaine hidden in the double bottom of his wig.

The man in question has been charged with a crime against public health and is being held at the disposal of the competent judicial authority.
