Sunday is movie Funday!

Did you see that weather? Yuck. Don’t go out in that.

Stay in with us* and watch one of these!

(*Not technically with us, because we’re in the JOE offices, and you’re probably all chilled out on your couch, but we’re there with you in spirit!)

SUNDAY 15 SEPTEMBER

How To Train Your Dragon – Comedy Central – 6pm

One of the best animated movies of recent years, it sees a community of vikings who have spent their entire lives fighting dragons, only for the son of the leader of the clan to realise that a peaceful co-existence could be built if only they’d all stop fighting for a minute.

We Bought A Zoo – E4 – 6.30pm

Matt Damon and Scar-Jo star in this romantic comedy drama about a family that moves house in order to completely restart their lives, which includes renovating and re-opening a local zoo. It is, apparently, based on a true story.

Clueless – MTV – 7pm

Alicia Silverstone tries to help a new student in her high school to get a popularity boost, but things don’t go as smoothly as she would’ve liked, especially once she starts crushing on her step-brother, the apparently ageless Paul Rudd.

Friends With Benefits – Comedy Central – 9pm

Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis are the two good friends who decide to set up a bang-buddy system, except that sex only complicates their friendship. Who would’ve guessed it? Still, at least this one is better than the other version of this movie, No Strings Attached.

Robocop – Channel 4 – 11pm

Not the incredible 1987 original, but the still-pretty-decent 2014 remake, with Joel Kinnaman under the silver armour. Issues to drone strikes, media-managed wars, and private weaponised companies are hugely topical, but unfortunately the action side of the movie can’t measure up quite as well. Still though, Gary Oldman, Michael Keaton, and Samuel L. Jackson are all having a blast.

Mr. & Mrs. Smith – Film4 – 11.20pm

Two of the most attractive people in the world – Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt – play husband and wife, who don’t realise that they are both highly trained assassins, until they are both assigned to assassinate the other. A very fun, very sexy action comedy thriller.

LISTEN: You Must Be Jokin’ with Aideen McQueen – Faith healers, Coolock craic and Gigging as Gaeilge
