Brendan Howlin has announced he will step down as leader of the Labour Party.
The decision comes after a poor general election showing from the party where they won six seats, a loss of one from the 2016 general election.
The party received just 4.38% of the first preference vote.
Howlin became leader of the Labour Party in 2016 after Joan Burton stepped down from the position.
He served as Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform from 2011 to 2016.
