coronavirus phase breakdown

A breakdown released by the government states that the reopening of pubs and nightclubs falls under the fifth and final phase.

Leo Varadkar announced on Friday evening that Ireland’s road to reopening the country would be broken down into five phases.

A subsequent document released by the government helped to outline what falls under what phase, and when these phases are likely to come into play.

Although it has been made clear that these plans can be changed and adjusted as time goes on, the document states that the reopening of pubs and nightclubs falls under Phase Five.

As it stands, Phase Five will commence on 10 August, and will see pubs and nightclubs operate with social distancing measures in place.

It will also see a return to work for all sectors, and larger social gatherings as a whole.

Phase One will begin on 18 May, which will allow outdoor meetings between people from different households, and a phased return of outdoor workers, among other things.

Phase Two (8 June) will allow visits to other households, as well as the opening of small retail outlets.

Phase Three (29 June) will allow small social gatherings, a return to work for those with low levels of physical interactions, and the opening of non-essential retail outlets.

Phase Four (20 July) will see creches reopen, as well as hairdressers and barbers expected to open again. Places of worship also fall under this phase.

You can see a full, detailed breakdown of each phase here.

Once again, it is important to note that the phases are based on a three-week review process, and could change if the situation in Ireland worsens.
