Met Éireann issues two thunderstorm warnings for 21 counties

Some heavy downpours are expected.

Met Éireann has issued two separate weather warnings for 21 counties in Ireland.

A Status Yellow thunder warning has been issued for Cavan, Monaghan, Donegal, Carlow, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, Louth, Offaly, Westmeath, Meath, Galway, Leitrim, Roscommon, Sligo, Clare, Cork, Kerry, Limerick and Tipperary.

The warning was issued at 9am on Monday and is valid from 12pm on Monday until 9pm tonight.

Met Éireann said scattered thunderstorms would develop through the afternoon and evening with heavy downpours and a risk of localised flooding.

Another Status Yellow thunderstorm warning has been issued for Armagh, Fermanagh, Tyrone and Derry.

The warning was issued at 9am on Monday and is valid from 1pm on Monday until 9pm on Monday.

According to the warning, thunderstorms may cause travel disruption in a few places in these counties.

On Sunday evening, Met Éireann issued a weather advisory for thunder and lightning on Monday which remains in place until 11pm tonight.
