A new breakfast show is on the way.

RTÉ has announced a new breakfast show on 2FM led by Doireann Garrihy, starting on Monday, 31 May.

The new show will see Eoghan McDermott replaced by two new co-hosts, 2FM presenters Donncha O’Callaghan and Carl Mullan.

It will air weekdays from 6am to 9am.

Former rugby player Donncha O’Callaghan presents Game On on RTÉ 2FM and has also appeared as a coach on Ireland’s Fittest Family on RTÉ One.

While Instagram comedian and RTÉ Player presenter Carl Mullan has hosted 2FM’s weekend breakfast show alongside Aifric O’Connell and has worked alongside Garrihy previously.

“Listeners can be guaranteed lots of laughs, plenty of giveaways as the three co-hosts conspire to get each day off to a bright and sunny start for listeners,” RTÉ said in a statement.

Presenter Eoghan McDermott left RTÉ earlier this year after working with the broadcaster on radio and television for six years. He had hosted the breakfast show on 2FM for two years alongside Garrihy.

RTÉ confirmed that his contract had expired and said they were working on new direction for the breakfast show.

“This is a very exciting new breakfast show for RTÉ 2FM with two new voices for breakfast radio joining Doireann,” Head of RTÉ 2FM, Dan Healy said.

“From Monday, 31 May, there will be an injection of great fun from Doireann, Donncha and Carl along with great music which will have Ireland in top form every day. A very well done to Tara Stewart and Stephan Byrne who kept us all entertained while Doireann and the team were at the ideas factory.”
