Movies on TV Tuesday 5 October

T U E S D A Y.

For you, the day Bison graced your village was the most important day of your life.

But for me? It was Tuesday.

Street Fighter is sadly not among the movies on TV tonight – Tuesday, 5 October – but let’s see what is, shall we?

Breakdown – Turner Classic Movies / TCM – 9pm

Kurt Russell runs into trouble on a road trip when his wife is kidnapped and the locals prove less than helpful.

Very enjoyable 90s thriller, well worth a look if you’ve not seen it before.

Coming to America – Comedy Central – 9pm

Eddie Murphy’s classic ‘fish out of water’ comedy.

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade – Film4 – 9pm

The third one.

Pitch Perfect 2 – RTÉ 2 – 9.35pm

The second one.

The Dark Knight – Sky Showcase – 9.45pm

Look, the word ‘iconic’ is wildly overused at this point. We know this.

But we think you’ll forgive us for throwing it at Heath Ledger’s turn in The Dark Knight.

Here’s a few more – mesmerising, charming, daring, inventive, fantastic.

The Dark Knight remains a compelling watch some 13 years on for many reasons but Ledger’s menacing performance is at the very top.

You’ve seen it loads of times by now. One more won’t hurt.

The Matrix Reloaded – ITV4 – 10pm

Not going to lie, this writer hated The Matrix Reloaded when it first came out.

Several revisits later, I think it’s actually pretty good.

And that’s my courageous story.

The Outlaw Josey Wales – TCM – 10.55pm

On the run from bounty hunters, Clint Eastwood’s deadly drifter searches for sanctuary.

Beverly Hills Cop II – Comedy Central – 11.20pm

Eddie Murphy again, this time back as Axel Foley in his second big-screen adventure.

Assassin’s Creed – Film4 – 11.35pm

Michael Fassbender journeys back in time in search of a mythical power.
