The number of deaths are now reported weekly, instead of daily.
A 14-year-old has died in Ireland after testing positive for Covid-19, the Health Protection Surveillance Centre has reported.
The death was included in the HPSC’s deaths report for the week to 9 November.
The 14-year-old is the youngest person to die in Ireland with the virus.
The teenager was one of 25 people who died from Covid-19 in that week.
In total, six people under the age of 25 have died from Covid-19 in Ireland during the pandemic.
Prior to this latest death, the youngest person to die from the virus in Ireland was 17, and the oldest to die was 105.
On Thursday, NPHET made a recommendation to the government that people work from home wherever possible.
The recommendation comes following a meeting after a sharp increase in Covid cases in recent weeks.
The government is set to discuss the recommendation next Tuesday.
Speaking on Wednesday, Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly said the government had no active plan to implement working from home full-time again.
“I haven’t received any advice to that end. It’s not something that Government is actively considering at the moment,” he said.
There were 3,680 cases of Covid confirmed in Ireland on Thursday.
