It applies to four counties.

As Storm Eunice passes over Ireland on Friday, Met Éireann has issued another weather warning – except this time for the weekend.

The Status Yellow rain warning applies to Donegal, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo.

Issued early Friday afternoon, the alert will come into effect from 4pm on Saturday (19 February) and will remain in place until the same time on Sunday.

“Persistent rain followed by heavy showers will lead to localised flooding in places,” it reads.

Before then, two Status Yellow warnings remain in place on Friday for the entire country due to Storm Eunice.

One is a wind warning and is in effect until 6pm on Friday.

The other is a snow and ice warning and will be valid until 10am on Saturday.

Earlier on Friday, Storm Eunice made landfall in the southwest of Ireland, bringing gusts of 130 kilometres per hour along with heavy rain, sleet and even some snowy conditions.

A man in his 60s died on Friday morning after sustaining injuries from a falling tree in Wexford.

Meanwhile, thousands of homes across Ireland were left without power as a result of the storm’s arrival into the country.
