Met Éireann says wintry showers possible next week as weather set to turn “noticeably colder”

Ireland’s sunny spell looks like it’s coming to an end.

Met Éireann has said conditions in Ireland are set to turn “noticeably colder” from next week, with wintry showers possible.

Before then, however, its forecast states that Ireland’s current fine weather will continue this weekend, with Sunday to be another dry day with long spells of spring sunshine.

Highest temperatures of 14 to 17 degrees are expected.

Heading into next week, Met Éireann says Monday will begin calm and dry.

That is before cloudy periods, sunny spells and one or two isolated showers follow later in the day with highest temperatures to range from 13 to 16 degrees.

Tuesday will then be slightly cloudier as winds turn northerly and bring a cold change to the weather.

While staying dry initially, a few showers will develop later in the day with highest temperatures of 12 to 14 degrees forecasted.

A further change is expected on Wednesday as cooler air blankets the country with scattered showers, some of which will possibly be wintry.

Cloudy skies and noticeably colder conditions are forecasted too, along with highest temperatures of 6 to 9 degrees.

Met Éireann says conditions will be similar on Thursday as a brisk northerly breeze is set to bring down scattered showers, with some possibly wintry in hill areas.

It will feel cold with highest temperatures of 6 to 8 degrees expected.
