Female child and woman in critical condition after incident in Clare

An incident room has been established by Gardaí.

A child and a woman are both in critical condition in hospital after an incident in Clare.

Shortly before 8am on Tuesday (27 September), Gardaí and emergency services attended a scene at a domestic residence in Clarecastle.

A female child was found with serious injuries and was taken to University Hospital Limerick, where she remains in a critical condition.

Meanwhile, a Garda spokesperson also confirmed that a woman was found unconscious at the scene.

The adult was transported to the same hospital and her condition is also described as critical.

An incident room has since been established at Ennis Garda Station and a Senior Investigating officer has been appointed to oversee the investigation into the discovery.

A Family Liaison Officer has been appointed to the family.  The scene remains preserved and is currently being examined.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone with any information on the incident to contact the investigation team at Ennis Garda Station at 065 6848100, the Garda Confidential Line at 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.

“Enquiries are ongoing and updates will follow,” the spokesperson added.
