An Irish man has died in a helicopter crash in the Swiss Alps, according to reports.
The Irish man was one of three people who died in the crash. Three others were injured.
A B3-type helicopter crashed at the Petit Combin mountain landing site during a drop-off on Tuesday.
The helicopter was carrying the pilot, a mountain guide, and four clients. The helicopter is said to have slid off the landing zone, and down the mountain.
Rescue helicopters responded to the crash. Three of the people on board, however, were found dead – including the Irish man.
Two people were treated on the mountain, according to reports, before being airlifted to hospital. A third occupant of the helicopter was also rescued.
The Department of Foreign Affairs has said that it was aware of the incident, and was ready to provide the man’s family with consular assistance.
Authorities in Switzerland have opened an investigation into the accident to try to determine the cause of the incident.
