Man seriously assaulted during “aggravated” home invasion in Carlow

Three men are being sought by Gardaí in connection with the incident.

A man has suffered serious injuries following a home invasion that took place in Carlow over the weekend.

The incident, referred to An Garda Síochána as an aggravated burglary, took place on Saturday (2 July) in Graiguecullen.

At approximately 11pm, a man in his 60s was seriously assaulted by three men at his home in the Sleaty Street area. An undisclosed sum of money was taken from the property and the three men in question fled the scene in a car.

Gardaí are particularly interested in obtaining information regarding a white Opel or Vauxhall Insignia-type car that was seen in the vicinity at this time.

The injured man was subsequently taken to Saint Luke’s Hospital to be treated for his injuries, which are not believed to be life-threatening.

A technical examination of the scene has been conducted.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to the incident or anyone who may have relevant information to come forward.

Investigators are also appealing for any road users who may have camera footage – including dash-cam – who were in the Duggan Avenue and Sleaty Street area of Graiguecullen between 10.45pm and 11.30pm on Saturday night to make any footage available to them.
