The German supermarket chain, Aldi, have announced that the company will create 450 new jobs across the country by the end of the year.

The jobs will include positions for new staff in both new and existing stores along with managerial roles, and Aldi hopes to have the new positions filled by the end of 2014.

The company also hopes to open up several new stores across Ireland by the end of the year, which is sure to see a few new construction jobs opening up too.

Aldi already employs around 2,500 people across 107 stores in Ireland and last year the German retailer made an announcement saying it hoped to open 20 new stores in Ireland by 2016. So they’re well on track for that.

Recent figures from Kantar World Panel – the market monitoring people – showed Aldi had an 8 per cent of the Irish market, which is up 22 per cent on last year. The recent news is sure to see that figure grow even further in the year ahead.
