We’ve all become more aware of how important a strong immune system is…

Your body’s ability to fight viruses and prevent illness is invaluable, but we don’t always do everything we can to support a healthy immune system.

There are a number of simple lifestyle changes that can help you build a stronger immune system. From your diet to your sleep schedule and everything in between, there are plenty of small changes that can make a big impact on your health.

To celebrate the launch of Deep RiverRock’s Immunity Range, Life Coach Emma Kehoe (pictured below) has shared her tips for boosting your immune system, so we’ve broken down some of her simple and effective advice for upping your immunity.

Destress yourself

Stress has been linked to a weak immune system, and Emma suggests making time for the activities that ease our stress levels could make a big different to our health too: “Prioritise relaxation. It’s no secret that stress levels can negatively impact your immune system and overall wellbeing, so taking active steps to relax are vital.”

Exercise, hobbies and socialising are all brilliant for easing stress levels at the end of a long day or week, and your immune system will definitely thank you for it.

Exercise regularly

Exercise isn’t just good for strength and fitness. It’s a key part of overall health and someone who exercises regularly might be in a better position to fight illnesses than someone who doesn’t.

If you’re not an overly-active person, doing at least 30 minutes of exercise a day could improve your circulation and support your immune system, so it’s a change well worth making.

Up your water intake

Water has always been absolutely key for a strong immune system and now it’s even more effective. Emma says keeping on top of your hydration is so important for a functioning immune system.

“By simply drinking 2 litres of water each day, you can increase your energy levels, help your body to stave off infections, improve sleep, mood, cognitive function, improve your skin and hair, even support weight loss – the list is endless. Put this on the top of your to-do list for general wellbeing.”

Deep RiverRock have just launched a new fruity flavoured water range, but it’s one with an added immunity boost. The new range uses ingredients such as Vitamin B6 and Zinc, to help towards supporting your immune system in the long run.

There’s something for flavour-lovers of all kinds too, with the new immune-boosting range including Forest Fruits Sparkling, Lemon & Lime Sparkling and Strawberry Still. You can check them out here.

Change up your diet

Your diet can help you get a lot of the vitamins and minerals your immune system needs. A relatively simple change like incorporating a bigger variety of fruit, vegetables and lean meat into your diet will go a long way in boosting your immune system.

Improve your sleep

How much sleep are you currently getting per night? Would it be over seven hours of sleep a night? Fewer than four?

Studies have shown that not getting enough sleep can increase your chances of getting ill if you’ve been exposed to any viruses, so if you’re someone who struggles to get a good night’s sleep, Emma says making some simple changes to you routine could help.

“For many this is easier said than done! But the research is undeniable – getting your 7 – 9 hours of sleep each night plays an essential role in supporting your defence against illness. Avoid caffeine later in the afternoon, digitally detox at least an hour before bed, and stick to a regular bedtime. Your body will thank you for it.”

At Deep RiverRock, they like to tell it how it is. A little extra Zinc or Vitamin B won’t give you a six pack or prepare you to climb Everest, but it all helps towards supporting your immune system in the long run. So, here’s to emerging from the pandemic as our best selves – healthy & hydrated. Nice One! Follow them on Instagram @deep_riverrock
