Continuing our series on looking at key tips and tricks to get you at your best on the pitch, JOE turns our attention to nutrition this week

While you can bust a lung in the gym, give it your all on the practice field and do your best overall to stay fit through exercise, there’s no substitute for looking after the nutritional side of things properly.

This week, Dr. Cian O’Neill walks us through the three macro nutrient groups that we should all focus on, and explains the importance of each of them.

More than half the battle is getting things right in the kitchen, but between proteins, fats, carbohydrates, calories and a host of other terms, it can be quite complicated to understand what’s going on. Dr. O’Neill runs us through the basics, what to look out for and what you need to eat, as well as focusing on another key component, the timing of when you eat.
