Joe’s punishing Fitness Challenge is finally underway alongside Bootcamp Ireland, so it’s time to introduce you to the four participants that will be put through their paces over the next twelve weeks.
Working with a Bootcamp Ireland fitness instructor and nutritionist, the following four will be keeping a basic diary on their gruelling schedule and goals in the coming weeks here on JOE.ie:
Name: Frankie Dolan
Age: 29
Location: Rathfarnham
Weight: 77kg
Occupation: IBS Sales Executive
Current Fitness Level: “Not too bad to be honest.”
Sports/Fitness Activities: “I try to get to the gym and play football every week.”
Goals: “I want to lose half of stone and some body fat but mostly I want to tone up for than anything.”
Excited? “It sounds tough but I’m really looking forward to it.”
Name: William Sainsbury
Age: 25
Location: Kilmainham, Dublin
Weight: 94kg
Occupation: Secondary teacher
Current Fitness Level: “Slightly below average I’d say.”
Sports/ Fitness Activities: “I hadn’t done anything for around three years, but I recently decided to play soccer twice a week.”
Goals: “I’m looking to at least lose a stone, possibly two. Aside from that, I’m hoping for a general improvement in fitness. I want to make football enjoyable for me, it’s been tough after such a break and that’s not a feeling I’ve had before.”
Excited? “I’m looking forward to it.”
Name: Colin Whooley
Age: 30
Location: Cork
Weight: 13 stone, around 82/83kg
Occupation: IT Consultancy Sales.
Current Fitness Level: “Poor enough now, to be honest.”
Sports/ Fitness Activities: “I go to the gym when I can and play the odd 5-a-side.”
Goals: “I’m trying to lose the last nagging bits of weight and I particularly want to lose the gut. After that, it’s all about toning up.”
Excited? “Absolutely, can’t wait for it.”
Name: Padraig Redfern
Age: 26
Location: Dromkeen, Co. Limerick
Weight: 88kg
Occupation: Field Sales Excutive
Current Fitness Level: “Fairly poor. I’d probably describe myself at beginner’s level of fitness.”
Sports/ Fitness Activities: “None at the moment really.”
Goals: “I’m looking for the motivation to get out and keep fit. My goal weight would be 13 stone (82kg).”
Excited? “Definitely. I was a bit nervous the first night but it was good craic and very interesting to start learning new fitness techniques.”
