In this day and age where the preparation levels of inter-county GAA players are practically on a par with any other professional sport, diet has come to play an increasingly important role for top class hurlers and Gaelic Footballers everywhere.

If you were looking to follow their lead and wanted to get an idea of what they munch down on a daily basis, you could do worse than pay attention to a tweet posted by Clare dual star Podge Collins last night after he had painstakingly prepared the meals he was going to eat today… and broke his mother’s heart while clearing practically every item of food from the fridge while he was at it.

Of course, Podge needs to be more vigilant than most because his Dad manages the Clare senior footballers and is no doubt paying particularly close attention to his son’s dietary habits, but you can be pretty sure that the vast majority of inter-county GAA players are following similar diet plans; we just hope they make the most of their cheat days when they do come around.
