Here at JOE, we love a challenge and they don’t come much more challenging than HELL & BACK. The country’s largest and most popular adventure challenge, HELL & BACK will test the very limits of your physical and mental endurance.

In HELL & BACK, there’s no time for pain and it’s definitely not for the faint of heart.

While Team JOE like to think we’re not faint of heart, we have to admit that we’re a bit soft in the stomach area. Luckily fitness guru Sophie Kavanagh is here to offer her top tips for upper body strength and conditioning.

You don’t need to be full time in the gym glued to the equipment in order to get healthy. In the video below, Sophie – a highly in-demand personal fitness trainer – demonstrates basic push ups, box jumps and body weight squats.

While the hard part is over once you’ve crossed the finish line, there are a few steps you can take during the recovery phase to reduce your pain in the days afterwards.

It’s often overlooked, but recovery is just as essential as all the hard work you put in leading up to the event.

As Sophie explains in the video below, sleep, hydration, nutrition and stretching are all important parts of the recovery process and will soon have you right as rain and already thinking about HELL & BACK next year.

For more tips from Sophie, you can log onto Buplex Ireland’s Facebook page, where they are also giving away tickets to the HELL & BACK challenge this September.
