When you need a helping… foot?

People who have trouble going to sleep at night will try virtually anything in an often vain attempt to catch a few zzzs.

Counting sheep, turning the pillow over, watching late night re-runs of the Antiques Roadshow, anything that will put them to sleep for a few precious hours.

According to the folks at New York Magazine, however, it could be a lot easier than that.

Sleeping at night, they say, is all to do with your body temperature and the simple act of sticking one foot out from underneath the blanket could be your ticket to a comfortable, uninterrupted, all-night snooze.

There’s a load of science behind the theory which we’ll let the video above explain far better than we could, but it’s well worth giving a shot if you can’t sleep occasionally and are crankier than a bag of cats come morning time.
