WATCH: One of the all-time great war games, Command & Conquer, is making a comeback

Units lost. Silos needed!

The very first Command & Conquer game was released on PC way back in 1995, but it wasn’t really until 1996’s Red Alert that it became the strategy phenomenon that the world knows it as today.

Over the years, there were sequels and remakes and next generation upgrades, but much like the recent new entries in the worlds of Theme Hospital and Streets Of Rage, sticking the original formula is what makes these games work.

To that end, the first footage of Command & Conquer: Remastered shows off the glossed up visuals – the original version plays out for the first few seconds, behind fading to the new edition – and it is filled with the nostalgia-pumping sounds of “Units lost!” and “Silos needed!” from that weird robot lady voice that was never really fully explained…

Game producer Jim Vessela wrote on the EA website that “When we recovered the source code to C&C Tiberian Dawn and C&C Red Alert, this gave us a viable avenue to accurately match the core gameplay, feel, and signature look of the legacy titles.

“We felt the 2D style was the best way to bring all these elements together, and ultimately achieve the authenticity we were looking for.”

There is no set release date for the remastered game yet, but check out the comparison video below:
