JOE Gaming Weekly – Cyberpunk 2077 gets incredible PS5 and Series X update

Rory Cashin

The first must-play game of 2022 arrives this week.

Welcome to JOE Gaming Weekly, your weekly round-up of all things gaming.

Or, specifically, the one big game you should play this week, the one big piece of gaming news you need to know about, and the one big deal available to purchase this week.

So off we go!

MUST PLAY OF THE WEEK

Horizon: Forbidden West

You can check out our full review right here, or in short, let us say this: Forbidden West is about as good as open world games get. Brilliantly expanding upon the world built by 2017’s Zero Dawn, we continue to follow Aloy’s quest to help save the world from both an unexplained plague that is killing off plant and animal life, and a rogue A.I. system that has taken over many of the robotic dinosaur creatures roaming this post-apocalyptic landscape.

Horizon: Forbidden West is available to play on PS5 and PS4 from Friday, 18 February. You can also check out our interview with creators of the game right here.

BIG NEWS OF THE WEEK

Cyberpunk 2077 reveals next-gen gameplay

The long-awaited next-gen update for Cyberpunk 2077 has finally arrived. The Patch 1.5 brings some major updates to all platforms, but the biggest improvements are for the Xbox Series X|S and PS5.

Those console improvements include ray tracing support, 4K resolution with dynamic scaling, improved loading times, and more visual and technical improvements. For the PS5, the new update also includes support for the adaptive triggers, haptic feedback, and the speakers on the DualSense controller.

To celebrate the update, there is a free five-hour trial of the game on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, with any saved progress then carried over to the main game should you wish to purchase it.

Check out the full next-gen gameplay footage (captured on the PS5) in the video here:
