The guy behind Game of Thrones is behind this week’s huge new release.

Welcome to JOE Gaming Weekly, your weekly round-up of all things gaming.

Or, specifically, the one big game you should play this week, the one big piece of gaming news you need to know about, and the one big deal available to purchase this week.

So off we go!

MUST-PLAY OF THE WEEK

Elden Ring

George R. R. Martin created the setting for this game, which is directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki, the man behind some of the most difficult games of recent years, including Dark Souls, Bloodborne and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.

So you can expect an epic, almost medieval setting and plot paired with some astoundingly beautiful worlds and controller-smashingly difficult gameplay.

The story sounds like a twisted take on The Lord of the Rings, as you play one of the Tarnished – exiles from “the Land Between” – who is looking to collect the scattered shards of the Elden Ring, which will allow you to become the Elden Lord and take control of the world around you.

Expect monsters. Big, loud, creepy, disgusting monsters.

Elden Ring arrives on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, Xbox One and PC from Friday, 25 February.

BIG NEWS OF THE WEEK

Street Fighter 6 has been officially announced

Capcom released Street Fighter V way back in 2016, and since then released two updates to that game, Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition and Street Fighter V: Champion Edition, but after six years they’re finally moving on to the next entry in the franchise.

The teaser trailer below doesn’t give much away, aside from a beefed-up Ryu about to face off against relative newbie Luke, who was the 45th and final character unlocked in Street Fighter V.

No word of an official release date, but since 12 August will mark the 35th anniversary of the very first Street Fighter game, we’d expect to see it arrive around that time to celebrate that date.

DEAL OF THE WEEK

Cyberpunk 2077

A week after the makers of Cyberpunk 2077 revealed a glorious next-gen patch for their epic sci-fi game, it becomes available with a huge price discount!

If you haven’t already invested in the GTA-with-a-sci-fi twist adventure, then now is absolutely the time to do so.

Cyberpunk 2077 is currently on the PS Store marked down from €49.99 to €24.99 until Wednesday, 2 March.
