“Protecting people runs in her veins and will always be a part of who she is…”

A few months back, we got a new look at the gameplay that Gotham Knights contains, and we got immediately hyped.

It is tough to maintain that excitement, especially when the game is still several months out from release, but this week Warner Bros. Games released a new trailer for the Batman-adjacent game, and yep, the hype-ness returns.

The trailer focuses exclusively on Batgirl, one of the four controllable characters in the new game which will also see players save Gotham as Robin, Nightwing and Red Hood from the mysterious Court Of Owls.

The new trailer synopsis is as follows:

“Batgirl is the hero Gotham needs. Gotham City still has a Bat, and she’s going to make sure everyone knows it. Protecting people runs in her veins and will always be a part of who she is, no matter her identity. The people of Gotham need a symbol to believe in, and there’s no one better than Batgirl to be that symbol.”

As previously reported, while Gotham Knights is set within a world where Batman has died, this actually isn’t a direct following on from Batman: Arkham Knight, which did end with the death of Batman (sort of), despite coming from the same developers who made Batman: Arkham Origins, which was related to Arkham Knight.

Yeah, we’re confused too.

But what we’re not confused about is how much we want to play this new game.

Gotham Knights will arrive on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC on Tuesday, 25 October.
