Gotham Knights release date pushed back to 2022

One of 2021’s most-anticipated games is no longer coming out in 2021.

In an announcement that is both disappointing but also entirely predictable, Gotham Knights has been confirmed to have a new release date, which will no longer be any time in 2021.

Originally due for release this year, most likely in the run-up to Christmas, the developers behind the game WB Games Montreal took to their social media platforms, and simply had this to say:

“Gotham Knights will now launch worldwide in 2022. We are giving the game more time to delivery the best possible experience for the players. Thank you to our amazing fans for your tremendous support of Gotham Knights. We look forward to showcasing more of the game in the coming months.”

Coming from the same developers as Batman: Arkham Origins (but not Arkham Asylum, Arkham City, or Arkham Knight), it is still a little unclear if this will tie into that Arkham Trilogy (developed by Rocksteady Games), which ended with Batman’s supposed death. The main reason for this confusion is because Gotham Knights allows you to control Nightwing, Batgirl, Robin, and Red Hood in Gotham as it descends into chaos… following Batman’s death.

Meanwhile, Rocksteady Games has its own follow-up superhero game, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, which apparently definitely is a continuation of their Arkham Trilogy, and is also currently due for release in 2022.

Gotham Knights will debut on PS5, Xbox Series X, PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
