GTA 6 will reportedly be based on a modern day “Bonnie & Clyde”

The report states that developers are “skeptical” the game will launch before early 2024.

Nearly a full decade on from Grand Theft Auto V, we’re all still keeping our eyes peeled to see when Rockstar Games will return to the open-world of crime.

Yeah, we’ve had Grand Theft Online since then, but that doesn’t really feel the same.

We’ve been keeping a close eye out for any and all updates, including the most recent discussion about a potential release date, as well as Rockstar reportedly shelving remasters of two of the best games ever made so they can focus all of their attention on GTAVI.

Bloomberg just released a report on Rockstar Games, which dealt mostly with the impact of crunch culture within the gaming industry, as well as how Rockstar has aimed to create a more progressive and inclusive culture within the workplace.

These changes are also being made to the games they are making, including the removal of transphobic jokes from GTAV, and being cautious not to “punch down” in future when making jokes about marginalised groups.

However, as part of that report, some tidbits of information were discovered regarding Grand Theft Auto 6.

Sources claimed that the game “will include a playable female protagonist for the first time. The woman, who is Latina, will be one of a pair of leading characters in a story influenced by the bank robbers Bonnie and Clyde.”

Additionally, the original idea for the game – codenamed Project Americas – was to include huge areas of both North and South America, but as the idea became too large to execute without demanding huge amounts of crunch from their employees, that has reportedly been whittled down to an initial setting of a Miami-type area (perhaps a return to Vice City?). From there, the developers will “continually update the game over time, adding new missions and cities on a regular basis”.

As for when the game will arrive, it was projected that it would land within the fiscal year of 2024 – which would be any time between April 2023 and March 2024, but according to the report, those close to the game were “skeptical” it would arrive in that timeframe and that “they expect the game to be at least two years away”.
