It is the first time that the PlayStation 5 console has had a price reduction since it launched in 2020.
If you’ve managed to hold out from buying a PlayStation 5 so far, then you’ll be happy to hear that now might be the best time to buy one, as Sony has revealed its first price reduction in the standalone console.
This is the first PlayStation 5 console sale price since it launch in late 2020, and the price reduction is for the non-digital version of the console, which means you can purchase hard copies of your games and not rely solely on downloading games to play them.
This version of the PlayStation 5 features 8K graphics, HDR technology, 825 GB SSD storage drive, Built-in WiFi & Ethernet & Bluetooth, and the Blu-Ray drive for your games… and your Blu-Ray movies, if you’re still staying physical with your favourite movies, too.
At the time of writing, both Curry’s and Smyth’s Toy Store have the PlayStation 5 console available for €469.99/£399.99, marked down from €549.99/£479.99, and only until Friday 18 August, or until stocks run out.
With some big games due to arrive between now and Christmas, including some PS5 exclusives such as Spider-Man 2, now would be the prime time to invest ahead of the big gaming season later in the year.
