The free subscription games coming to PlayStation and Xbox in July

If you’ve got the subscriptions, here are the new additions coming to your PS5, Xbox Series X, PS4 and Xbox One.

Both PlayStation and Xbox have announced the additions to their gaming subscription services for the month of July, with some taking effect from the first week of the month, and others spread out across the rest of it.

So if you’ve signed up for PS Plus and/or the Games With Gold subscriptions on your consoles, these are the new additions you can put into your library throughout July.

PS PLUS

Available to add to your library from Tuesday, 5 July to Monday, 1 August:

Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time

Official synopsis: “An all-new Crash adventure awaits! Dr. Neo Cortex and N. Tropy are back at it again and launching an all-out assault on not just this universe, but the entire multiverse.

The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan

Official synopsis: “In this branching, cinematic horror game from the creator of Until Dawn and The Quarry, five friends set sail on a holiday diving trip that soon changes into something much more sinister. All playable characters can live or die, with the choices you make deciding their fate. Experience your terrifying story alone, with a friend online or go for safety in numbers with up to five players offline.”

Arcadegeddon

Official synopsis: “Gilly, the owner of a local arcade, is trying to save his business from a faceless mega-corporation, Fun Fun Co. … and what better way to stick it to the man than with a brand-spanking-new super game.

Unfortunately, the corp gets wind of Gilly’s plan and launches a cyberattack, injecting a virus into the game. Now it’s up to you to rise up and save both the game and the last remaining local arcade in this ever-evolving co-op multiplayer shooter. Offering a mix of PvE and PvP gameplay, you and up to three friends online to explore multiple biomes, compete in mini games, find hidden chests, and battle a crazy cast of enemies and bosses.”

Beasts of Maravilla Island (available 1 to 31 July)

Official synopsis: “Unlock the wonder by taking pictures of the elusive and beautiful creatures on a mysterious, dreamlike island. Explore a 3D jungle teeming with unusual and playful life. Climb, explore, and solve puzzles.

Use your grandfather’s journals and his trusty old camera to snap pics of otter-crocodiles, birds disguised as bananas, and much more. It’s up to you and your photographer’s eye to help share Maravilla’s magic with the world.”

Relicta (available 16 July to 15 August)

Official synopsis: “Play as a physicist stranded on an eerie derelict moon base. Find your way by bending gravity and magnetism to your will. Buried in the darkness of the lunar craters is a secret that might claim your daughter’s life or change the fate of humanity forever. Solve puzzles in a game where every corner holds a mystery and each step is a challenge.”

Thrillville: Off The Rails (available 1 to 15 July)

Official synopsis: “Design and run your own theme park! With five new parks and 100 new missions, you’ll need an all-day pass to enjoy this much fun. The best part about creating crazy rollercoaster rides is you get to ride them as many times as you want.”

Torchlight (available 16 to 31 July)

Official synopsis: “Hack and slash your way through dungeons galore. Choose from among three character classes as you roam from the center and safety of the town of Torchlight into randomly generated dungeons to battle hordes of monsters and collect lots of loot. You’ll have a trusty animal companion at your side as you take on main quests, side quests, battle big bosses, and chat with the denizens of town.”
