Time to get excited!

We’re due to get the fifth generation of PlayStation this year, most likely in the run-up to Christmas, giving Santy enough time to build them all, but so far we don’t have a huge amount of information on any of them.

We do know that the PS5 will likely be backwards compatible with previous generation’s games, so we hope you haven’t sold them off over the years, or used them as expensive, shiny coasters once the new generation arrived.

Additionally, the actual price of PS5 likely won’t be announced until Microsoft confirm their pricing for the Xbox Series X, with Sony’s CFO Hiroki Totoki telling IGN the following:

“What is not very clear or visible is because we are competing in the space, so it’s very difficult to discuss anything about the price at this point of time, and depending upon the price level, we may have to determine the promotion that we are going to deploy and how much costs we are prepared to pay.”

But we are now one step closer to the new console becoming a reality, as Sony have launched the official PlayStation 5 website.

The website consists of a form for you to fill out which will provide you with updates on the console, and the following statement:

“We’ve begun to share some of the incredible features you can expect from PlayStation 5, but we’re not quite ready to fully unveil the next generation of PlayStation. Sign up below to be among the first to receive updates as we announce them, including news on the PS5 release date, PS5 price and the upcoming roster of PS5 launch games.”

You can find the website right here.
