Great news if you got a Series X for Christmas, because 2021 is gonna be a bumper year for Xbox gamers!

Is it fair to say that the launch releases for the latest generation of consoles was slightly underwhelming?

Yes.

Is it fair to say that the launch releases for pretty much every new generation of consoles has been underwhelming?

Also yes.

Consoles take at least a year or two to build up an impressive library for gamers to properly dive into – it has always been this way – but it does seem that Microsoft are well aware of that issue already, as they’ve announced the entire list of exclusive-to-Xbox releases players can expect to play in 2021.

And keep in mind, these aren’t the only games to arrive on the Xbox Series X (and likely the Xbox One, as it is unlikely they’ll all be next-gen exclusives), so there will be plenty more to play, too. But they’ll also be available on the PlayStation, on PC, on Switch, and on Stadia.

To be fair, a lot of the release dates don’t get specific beyond “2021”, as while there are some games that do have their release dates set in stone, a lot will be waiting to see how the impact of the pandemic will continue to impact on their schedules.

Anyway, here is the list:

  • Adios – 2021
  • The Artful Escape – 2021
  • The Ascent – 2021
