It’s the last big summer festival of the year.
The Listowel Harvest Festival is now the joint-longest racing festival in Ireland, seven days in duration, the same as the Galway Races and second in attendances only to that great event. It’s running from Sept 11-17.
It’s the last festival of the summer so punters tend to make the most of it and get involved in most of the festivities. Firstly it’s in Kerry, ergo giving it a head start almost over any other county. Secondly, it’s horse-racing, glorious horse-racing.
Ah yes racing. It’s a feeling you won’t find anywhere else. It’s the whole experience. It’s that feeling you get in the packed stands or watching the theatre of the parade ring. It’s the anticipation as the races unfold out on the track. From the elegance and colour of ladies days to the party atmosphere of the music nights, you and your friends are spoiled for choice.
