For those about to rock, we salute you!
It’s that time of year again. We’re inviting musicians and singers across Ireland to enter the Le Crunch Apple of my Eye Song Contest for the chance to win an amazing prize. So we’re putting up whatever the musical equivalent of the bat signal is!
Have you always wanted to rock a crowd in one of Ireland’s most iconic venues? Maybe you just want to kickstart your rock’n’roll career and generate some national buzz. Or it could be your dream to get famous enough to throw cakes into audiences full of adoring fans.
Well, here’s your chance. The five finalists will get a chance to showcase their talent in front of a packed house in Whelan’s, which is pretty special. As if that wasn’t enough, the winner will walk away with €1,500 and four runners up will also win €250. The winner will also win a slot of Indiependence 2018 so that’s a lot of exposure for any up-and-coming musician.
So how do you enter? It’s easy. We want singers or bands to perform a cover of their favourite song and send it to us. There are a number of ways that you can submit your entry.
Email it to [email protected] with your MP3 or MP4 file attached or include a link to your YouTube video in the body of the email. You must also include your contact details in the email. Post your video on Twitter with the hashtag #LeCrunchSongs. We’ll contact you to get contact details if you’re shortlisted as a semi-finalist.
The closing date for entries is 19 February, 2018.
The five finalists will be chosen by a combination of a panel of judges and a public vote. The judges will pick three of the finalists and the final two places will be decided by a public vote on the JOE website. This year’s judges will include JOE’s Paddy McKenna, Barq’s Jess Kavanagh and singer Jack O’Rourke.
