There is no doubt that Ireland has a special relationship with Australia. Whether that is down to years of emigration, our diet of Aussie soaps or the fact we are both sports-mad nations, the two countries have an awful lot in common.
Seeing as St Patrick’s Day is a big deal Down Under, it is only fair that we make a bit of an effort when Australia Day rolls around. Australia’s National Day is January 26, and while those in the antipodes can celebrate by heading to the beach or firing up the barbie, we have to find alternative methods of celebration here.
And there is nowhere better to do that than The Woolshed in Dublin. The Australian bar is dedicating three days this weekend to celebrate the land of Kylie, AFL and blistering sunshine. Starting on Friday 24th, and running all the way through to the day itself on Sunday, it’s the place to be this weekend to sample a little bit of Australia right here in Dublin.
