How would you like to save money by making a DIY eco-lamp that turns off whenever you blink? It’s unbelievably annoying, but good for the environment.

These days, saving a few pennies wherever you can is a major bonus. So why not make your own DIY eco-lamp? That’s exactly what Randy Sarafan did recently when he connected up a table lamp to his face with electrodes. Electrodes? Maybe you should hold off on making that lamp, just for the moment.

Every time Randy yawns or has his eyes closed for an extended period of time the lamp switches off. When he opens his eyes back up, the lamp comes on. Genius, but also incredibly annoying.

You may be thinking, ‘hooking my face up to a device that’s plugged directly into the wall doesn’t sound like the brightest of ideas’. And you’d be right.

Because Randy is the editor-in-chief over at Instructables – the DIY, step-by-step, how to website – he’s included his own step-by-step guide on how to make your very own eco-friendly face lamp. However, it might be a good idea starting off at the last step, which reads:

Caution!!! Connecting your face to a DIY device that is plugged directly into the wall is a terrible idea. This Instructable was for entertainment purposes only. You should never replicate this.

As you can see, the face lamp was just for entertainment purposes, so just watch the video below instead of making one yourself.
